Acupuncture
Acupuncture has an Ancient Tradition focusing on wholistic treatment in order to alleviate chronic and acute symptoms. The World Health Organization (WHO) identifies 300 different conditions for which Acupuncture has proven effective. Other than an immediate decrease in pain, and an improvement in symptoms over time, Acupuncture typically provides feelings of calm and relaxation while on the treatment table with increased energy and sense of well-being between treatments.
Nutrition and Herbal Therapies
Herbal formulas, both Chinese and Western are often prescribed in association with Acupuncture treatment. They possess both nutritional and energetic qualities that allow us to address core imbalances that act as blocks to healing and perpetuation of symptoms and discomfort. They are taken generally short term during the healing process and then discontinued. However, with our modern environment and nutritional stressors most of us should be taking daily supplements to minimize the effect of this stress on the body-mind-spirit.
Cupping
Cupping is an ancient Chinese method of causing local congestion. A partial vacuum is created in cups placed on the skin either by means of heat or suction. This draws up the underlying tissues. When the cup is left in place on the skin for a few minutes, blood stasis is formed and localized healing takes place.
Cupping therapy has been further developed as a means to open the 'Meridians' of the body. Meridians are the conduits in the body through which energy flows to every part of the body and through every organ and tissue. There are five meridians on the back that, when opened, allow invigorating energy to travel the whole length of the body. It has been found that cupping is probably the best way of opening those meridians.
Cupping has also been found to affect the body up to four inches into the tissues, causing tissues to release toxins, activate the lymphatic system, clear colon blockages, help activate and clear the veins, arteries and capillaries, activate the skin, clear stretch marks and improve varicose veins. Cupping is the best deep tissue massage available. Cupping, the technique, is very useful and very safe.
Gua Sha
Gua Sha or scraping has had a long history in Traditional Chinese Medicine in China. Unlike acupuncture it is a non-invasive procedure. It is the art and practise of rubbing the skin with an implement that will increase blood circulation at that localised area. It can be used for pain relief and expelling Wind evils (a.k.a-colds and flues). Gua Sha is safe, simple and effective traditional procedure to do.
Gua Sha can be used to alleviate the following chronic degenerative diseases:
Migraines, Chronic neck pain,Chronic shoulder pain, Back pain, Bone spurs, Strains and sprains, Menstrual disorders, Insomnia, Heart disease, Hypertension, Vertigo, Sinusitis, Ear and eye disorders, Chronic infections, Sciatica, Osteo arthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Bursitis,, Neuralgia, Asthma, Carpal tunnel syndrome, Stress,, Digestive disorders, Muscle aches,Skin disorders and much more.
Tui Na
Tui Na is a therapeutic massage which was officially recognised by the Chinese government, in 1949, for its medical benefits and results. Tui Na literally translates as "Tui" meaning push and "Na" meaning grasp.
Tui Na is a sophisticated medical massage used to treat injuries, joint and muscle problems and internal disorders. Tui Na techniques and manipulations are rigorous. It involves applying finger pressure, hands, elbows and knees as a tool to directly influence the flow of Qi (body energy) to treat disease and illnesses. Tui Na is also used to protect health by building immunity, so that disease can be stopped in its beginning acting as a preventative medical care. It involves a deep tissue massage to various acupuncture points without the use of needles. In many cases it is used for children, seniors and for individuals who may be afraid of needles.
