Marie E. Wilkinson

Marie has been involved in the Wholistic Health field for just over 30 years.

First areas of study were Yoga, in the early 1970’s, quickly followed by Meditation, Herbology & Vegetarianism in the later 70’s. With the birth of a son in 1978, the study of Reflexology was begun to bring life back into balance.

In 1983 Marie entered the faculty of Physical Education, at the U of A, as her pre-degree program for application to the department of Physiotherapy. Those years of study provided a firm grounding in the physical sciences.

During the late 80’s & early 90’s, Marie ran the office & retail store for a busy Herbalist & Iridologist in Edmonton. During that time she began her study of Aromatherapy. This was followed by further studies & certification in Reflexology in 1996.

In 1999 Marie achieved her certification in footcare, specifically Pedicure. She now combines her many areas of interest to provide Wholistic Footcare for Solis Wellness. In an effort to avoid petrochemicals, preservatives, & synthetic derivatives, Marie makes many of the products she uses in her pedicures. Aromatherapy is part of every pedicure. Marie does not provide nail polish, although if the client wishes to bring her own, it will be applied to finish the pedicure.

Christianne Hall (Guest Therapist)

The Ancient Art of Hawaiian Healing Bodywork LomiLomi

Is now available at SolisWellness

Christianne  is formerly from Saskatchewan,  is a single  mother of seven children. She has supported herself and her family through a successful career as an Ironworker/Welder.

In 1997 Christianne  moved to Edmonton and started to experience a strong draw toward healing for herself.  Always interested in personal development, spirituality and cross cultural traditions, Christianne was open to pursuing a path of change for herself  and family which lead her to take an intensive training course in the shamanic healing work of Micheal Harner’s Shamanic training.

The transformational experiences with shamanic healing  drew Christianne into exploring other healing modalities including sound healing through voice and tuning forks. Christianne went into massage therapy in 2003 and then on to holistic practitioner training and more advanced levels of therapeutic body work, one of which is Lomilomi Hawaiian Bodywork.  Christianne completed massage therapy training in 2004, and is a member of the NHPC.  She began her Lomilomi training in 2005 and choose to continue her immersion into this ancient Hawaiian healing tradition by going to Hawaii, living there, training and learning  the Hawaiian cultures. Her Lomilomi teachers include  Kumu  Lawrence Aki, Uncle Phillipo, Kahuna Harry Uhane Jim, Kim & Jim Hartley, Wayne Powell,  Iolani Grace Emanuel and Mallanalli.

Lomilomi means ‘energy shifting touch therapy’ that can change your mind, body, emotions and life for the good.  Christianne's “signature” Lomilomi Bodywork guides you to experience a journey in your present and future while she is helping you release issues in your tissues of the past.  Lomilomi bodywork helps you experience the connection between  spiritual, physical, emotional and mental bodies and assists you to focus your attention on your intention during your session for facilitating your own healing process.

Lomilomi combines the use of pule(prayer), Ha(breath), and Mana(energy) with a variety of massage stokes and techniques to release blocked areas of tension in the body. It improves physical performance through the application of rhythmic movements from the unique stokes, calling it the “Dance of Massage”.

 Sonia Lafleur

Sonia has been a Registered Massage Therapist in the City of Edmonton since May 2002. Currently a member of the nhpc, Sonia holds a 2200 hour certificate in Massage Therapy from M H Vicars School of Massage.

Her intention to provide life-changing therapy has lead Sonia to specialize in Myofascial Release which is a deep-tissue modality designed to create greater balance in the body by bringing the body back into postural alignment. Some of the effects of this type of bodywork include: decreased pain, decreased physical and mental tension, subltle shifts in posture and joint mechanics, greater ease of movement, and an overall increased sense of wellbeing and lightness.

Sonia holds a Bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies and is a student of the Course in Miracles. Her intention as a healer is to help bring your mind, body and soul into greater harmony and to facilitate the release of anything from your past that might be holding you back from realizing your full potential.

Myofascial Release is the perfect tool for this. It is a modality that is extremely effective in integrating the body's different parts into a cohesive whole. This can be achieved thru specific deep tissue therapy for acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions or thru full-body therapeutic massage.
